My Share A Coke Experience

Around early or mid-2013, I have seen pictures of coke bottles and cans with names on it. I wondered where and how they got one but I was hopeless because the photos were mostly from Europe and the Middle East. So I just had to let the dream go at that time. Luckily, I found coke in cans in a convenient store that has Mommy and Daddy on it instead of the normal Coca Cola logo. I immediately bought them and the search started here. I found it difficult to find our names on coke cans so I tried looking for our names on 500 ml pet bottles. My sister found her name "Chel" and she bought it. Everyday, I visited 3-4 convenient stores to look for our names but always with no luck. So I checked Coke's website to know more about how I could get one.

Tomato and Mango Salsa Recipe

My dad loves to dip chips on salsa and he even buys those expensive bottled salsas from the supermarket. I have nothing against salsas bought from the grocery stores, I just think making your own salsa is cheaper and gives you room to adjust the taste to your liking because some of these bottled salsas are too hot, tomatoes are too chunky and others just taste too herb-y. Making salsa is very easy and it doesn't require a culinary degree or extensive cooking experience. So my dear sister made some tomato salsa for us!

Bicol Express Recipe

These past few days, I have been craving for Bicol Express. So when we went to the market this morning, I bought 5 pesos worth of alamang, coconut milk for 20 pesos and siling pangsigang which costs 2 pieces for Php1.50. We have some pork liempo at home so I'm not sure what it costs. In this recipe I just used two slices of liempo and I think it is around 1/4 kilo but I'm just making an estimate. :) I really love to eat Bicol Express but I don't like it hot, so today we cooked something which may not be considered as Bicol Express at all! Of course, if you like it hot or extra hot, you can just add some chili peppers or siling labuyo.

I'm Back!

I have been away for almost five months and I really miss writing. I just had to pick myself up again after what happened back in March. My family had to go through a lot of stuff that we never thought would happen. But we have to move on so the drama ends here. :)

Cheese and Garlic Potato Recipe

I have been preparing this recipe for some time now and I have always planned of sharing it here. I really don't consider this recipe as a secret. In fact, almost everybody who tried my cheese and garlic potatoes, asked how I made it. And I always share the recipe with them.

Shawarma Bros - Pasig City

I first saw Shawarma Bros food truck in Capitol Commons when me my friends got together last December. The initial plan was to try the food trucks there but we ended up dining in Thai Dara in Kapitolyo instead. Too bad! I was already eyeing the yellow and black truck and I have anticipated on eating shawarma that night. Days after out trip to Café Lidia, my sister and I passed by Shawarma Bros in C. Raymundo Avenue in Pasig City. My sister said that she has heard about Shawarma Bros on Kris TV and she has been intrigued since then. That's why when we saw their concept restaurant in Pasig, we did not hesitate to drop by and check the place out!

Café Lidia - Marikina City

I was waiting for a jeepney ride home from school last February 7 (Friday) when I heard someone calling my name. I looked around and I saw Mikez's car and Vince kept shouting something. I never really understood what he said but he was gesturing that I should go with them. I immediately hopped in the back seat without really knowing where they would take me. It took a couple of minutes before everything I realized it. They are going to Café Lidia! This is the place Albert and I have been planning to visit for a long time now. I was just thrilled that finally I can eat there. Mikez and Vince said that my previous reviews of food places were all planned and our trip to Café Lidia can really be considered as the only (or the first) accidental food trip we had.

What are the Health Benefits of Soy Milk?

The first use of soy milk dates back from China around AD 25-255. The milk is produced by soaking dry soybeans and grinding them with water. Widely used as a non-dairy alternative to cow’s milk, it contains the same proportion of protein and it has no cholesterol. In 1980, the soy milk industry boomed and many soy milk brands were sold in aseptic cartons and bottles. Today, the drink is still very popular especially in the hawker culture of many Southeast Asian countries. Here are some of the health benefits of this increasingly popular drink:

ThaiDara - Kapitolyo Pasig

Last December, me and my friends, Albert, Luis, Grace, Fao and Ciara, got together for dinner to celebrate Luis' birthday. Albert told me that we will be having dinner at one of the food trucks inside Capitol Commons. I got excited because I have never tried food trucks there before. So I left early and I got there first. Since they were not yet there, I checked out food trucks and I already spotted something I like. Luckily, when they arrived, our plans changed! We walked from Capitol Commons to Kapitolyo. We all looked around and Luis said he wanted to eat at Mad Marks but the place was full. And since we are hungry and tired, we all agreed to try Thai Dara.

Charlie's Grind and Grill - Kapitolyo Pasig

My sister has been asking me about Charlie's Grind and Grill in Kapitolyo Pasig and she said that her friend told her about the place. She asked me to visit the place but I never really had the time go there while she was in Singapore. So when she got back, we both decided to go there together. Kapitolyo is just a 40-minute drive from where we live, that is, if the traffic isn't that bad (which rarely happens!). How to get there? If you're coming from EDSA, you should make a turn on Shaw Boulevard bound to Pasig. Take a right on W Capitol Drive which is right across the entrance of Capitol Commons. Take the second left (E Capitol Drive). On the right side you should see this.

Where to Find the World's Biggest Burgers

Ahhh burgers, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love a juicy patty between two buns and garnished with lettuce, tomatoes, and some condiments. Throw in some cheese and bacon strips and you’ve got a very tasty treat. The world loves burgers so much that McDonalds sells 75 of them every second! Doing the math, that equals 6,480,000 burgers a day! If you think how McDonald’s is just one of hundreds of stores worldwide that sells burgers, then you can imagine the immense number of burgers people consume every second of every day. There’s no number for how many burgers Jollibee sells but I’m pretty sure their sales of yum burgers are pretty high as well.

If you’re on a quest to find the world’s biggest burgers, then let’s look to the fine folks from the Guinness Book of World Records to see which one holds that honorific title. According to the records, the world’s largest hamburger was prepared by Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton, Minnesota. The hamburger weighed 913.54 kg or 2,014 lbs and required a crane to flip it. It’s that huge! The record holder measured 10 feet in diameter and was topped with close to 24 kg of tomatoes, 23 kg of lettuce, 18 kg of cheese, and 7.5 kg of bacon. The burger was made in September 2012 so I say it’s time for someone to challenge this record. I’m crossing my fingers that they attempt the record again near my hometown because guests got to enjoy the record-breaking burger for free!
