Ready Mix Kutsinta

A kutsinta, kuchinta or brown rice cake is one of the most loved kakanin in the Philippines. It is usually made with rice flour, brown sugar, water, lye water and topped with grated coconut. Some recipes I found on the internet used cornstarch and annatto seeds. Finding lye water in the grocery store is a bit hard so I have settled for something easier, a ready mix kutsinta! I was a bit skeptic in trying it but I thought I have more to gain and nothing to lose. So I prepared it as soon as I found some free time!

HID Burgers - Cainta Rizal

I have always been intrigued of HID Burgers because it's always full of customers. I see this almost everyday since I pass by Imelda Avenue on my way home. I waited for months before I finally tried it because I hate waiting in line to be seated and served. I first tried HID Burgers with Caloy and Bino around late 2011 or early 2012. I can't remember what I ordered, but I'm betting it was HID BLT.

McDonald's Happy Meal: The Box is Back!

Late post!!! ☺

I have already made two articles about McDonald's Happy Meal and I think I have clearly expressed my fondness for it. On my first post about the Despicable Me 2 Toys, I have mentioned how I wish McDonald's can bring back their Happy Meal box. And guess what? They did!

My Excuse For Not Writing

It has been more than one month since my last post and I'm sorry for not writing more articles. I have been really busy these past weeks and I have to set aside blogging for a while. And I hope that I can get back to writing again soon. So what have I been doing? Continue reading and you'll know. ☺

In mid August, my Belgian Malinois gave birth to five amazing puppies! It is my first time to try to breed puppies and I never expected that they will be a handful. Aside from them, I still have two other dogs to take care of and I think eight dogs would need more than two hands! I'm glad I have friends who have guided and helped me take care of my babies!

Tipco 100% Juices by Del Monte

I have learned about Tipco 100% Juices by Del Monte on an advertisement on Facebook. I'm not really sure if this product is new or it has been out in the market for a long time and I might just not notice it before in the supermarket shelves. But either way, I am thankful that I found a product that will help us continue to live healthier!

Mister Kabab - Pearl Drive Ortigas

Me and my college friends used to go to a place called Mister Kabab. It was located at the corner of West Avenue and Quezon Avenue before but when I went there last 2009 the place was empty and I learned that it has moved to a place along West Avenue. We are really fond of dining there since the food is very affordable and delicious at the same time. Writing this article makes me remember our good old times.

Alaminos' Milk Star Goat's Milk

About a couple of weeks ago and I saw the page for Alaminos' Milk Star Goat's Milk on Facebook. I have to read it back. Goat's milk? I haven't seen one in supermarkets and I'm just familiar with cow and carabao's milk. I got curious and read about goat's milk, it's benefits and drinking goat's milk vs. cow's milk.

Nestlé Fruit Selection Yogurt+Jelly

I have been hesitant to eat yogurt before because of it's sour taste and it's made of milk. I am lactose intolerant and drinking milk and eating other dairy products like cheese gives me an upset stomach. Most people I know eats yogurt so I made some research about it. Yogurt turns out to be a delicious treat that's also good for my tummy. Aside from aiding us in our digestion, yogurt has a lot of healthy benefits too!

Eskimo Bob by Icebergs - Megamall

A few weeks back, Albert asked us to go with him to Megamall to buy his new phone and he treated us for dinner! This is one opportunity I wouldn't say "no" to. Earlier this year, Albert told me about a place that he always goes to where he loves to order a big serving of chicken cordon bleu. The place is called Eskimo Bob by Icebergs.

Home-Made Pizza Rolls Recipe

Today, I made a special afternoon snack for my family. Pizza rolls! I got the idea from our office pantry who sells mini pizzas! I think it's really delicious and easy to prepare. So I thought of doing my own version. This is the first time I tried this recipe and I think it turned out well so I am sharing the recipe with you. I went to the nearest grocery store and bought the following ingredients.

World Chicken - Megamall

World Chicken serves perfectly flame-grilled deboned chicken spiced by their different sauces and paired with awesome sidings. They opened their first branch in Glorietta 4 on October 1998. It was started by Luis Llamado, Jose Camara and Vanessa Yap who were friends that love to eat and experiment recipes with chicken. I think they all made a terrific job in making World Chicken a success!

McDonald's Happy Meal: The Smurfs 2

First, I would like to say thank all the people who have read my post McDonald's Happy Meal: Despicable Me 2. I never thought that it would gain so much readers and I was able to interact with them too!. Because of this, I wanted to write another post about McDonald's Happy Meal toys and this time it's about The Smurfs 2. Kyle has been telling me about the new Happy Meal toys and has been insisting on collecting all of them again. There are a total of twelve toys here in the Philippines and sixteen toys in the US.

Tuna Sandwich Spread Recipe

My mom used to prepare school snacks for us everyday when we were kids. She has a wide variety of snack recipes and I think I got most of my ideas from her. One of the things she taught me was how to prepare tuna sandwich spread. I still do this until now because it's easy and my dad always requests for it.

Famous Belgian Waffles Part 2

If you have read my previous post about the Famous Belgian Waffles in Eastwood, you would know how much I love to munch on these sweets! And I think my good friend Tina of Fashion and Chocolat knows me very well when she surprised me with my favorite waffle the day after my birthday. When I got to my desk, I noticed that there was something on it and I was really touched when I learned that it was from her! She got me my favorite! Hazelnut! This post is one month overdue but I think it would still be awesome to let you know how great Tina is for remembering! Thanks again Tina Bear! Hug!

Home-Made Potato Wedges Recipe

Yesterday, my sister asked me if I can cook potato wedges for her. I have done a couple of potato recipes but I really haven't tried potato wedges yet. I thought of my version of the mojo potato and made some modifications. I think this is very easy and you can also try this.

Kangkong With Oyster Sauce Recipe

Last year, our family had dinner at one of the branches of Chic-Boy in Rizal. We ordered their famous Chicken Inasal and Cebu Lechon Liempo. We also had one of their controversial Ginisang Kangkong sa Bawang (sautéed swamp cabbage in garlic). It tastes good and I thought that it was an easy dish to cook. I tried doing my own version of this and I would like to share the recipe with you here.

Eating Fresh at Subway

Yesterday's experience really brought some kind of trauma to me. So today, my friends and I decided to have Subway. Subway has a store just across the building where I'm working. It's quite near so there will be no need for delivery nightmares again. It has been a long time since I last visited their store in Eastwood City and I'm very happy to learn that their Sulit Sub is the BLT. Bacon, Lettuce and Tomatoes and it only costs Php69!

McDonald's Happy Meal: Despicable Me 2

Who can forget the joy we all felt as little kids while opening a McDonald's Happy Meal box. Unpacking the box and finding a toy inside is one of my most cherished memory. I have been a collector McDonald's Happy Meal toys since the 90s until 2005 until it all piled up in my room. It was really a mess! As I was getting older, I have to let go of some of my collections and passed it down to my younger cousins so they can play with it.

Trader Joe's Speculoos Cookie Butter

Last month, my Facebook and Instagram feeds has been flooded with photos of Speculoos Cookie Butter. It got me curious but I ignored the urge to buy and try it a couple of times. When we tried the Famous Belgian Waffle with Hazelnut, my friend Vince told me that it tastes like Cookie Butter. This convinced me to try it.

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast - Marikina

My good friend Erik introduced us to a very nice diner called Kanto Freestyle Breakfast in Mandaluyong back in March. And we have visited the place a couple of times since then.  Kanto Freestyle in Mandaluyong is around 25 km from where we live and when we learned about their new branch in Marikina, we felt happy because it's closer and we can eat there more often!

Father's Day at Lido Cocina Tsina

About a couple of weeks ago, I asked my dad to be free on father's day. My dad normally spends his days teaching at the firing range and weekends are expected to be fully booked. But last June 16, father's day, he spent it with us. My dad, Ate Chel, Kyle and me all went out to have lunch. Daddy and I haven't been to Lido Cocina Tsina yet and this occasion would be a good reason to try it. There's a Lido Cocina Tsina branch in Cainta Rizal, just along Ortigas Avenue Extension. The place is just in our area and it's just a 15-minute drive.

Stackers Burger Café - Eastwood

Last week, me and my friends decided to have our lunch in Stackers Burger Café in Eastwood. I'm not so much of a burger eater but having Stackers is a different story. And since I am with my friends, my time there is all worthwhile.

Krispy Kreme Salted Caramel

I guess, doughnuts always brings out the kid in me and I feel a certain kind of joy whenever I see them. Before, we only have Dunkin' Donuts and Mr. Donut here in the Philippines and I remember asking my friend to bring home some Krispy Kreme from the US. I am that desperate. ☺ Around 2006, Krispy Kreme opened it's first store in Bonifacio High Street then in Megamall then in Greenhills and the rest is history. With around fifteen variants for doughnuts and some holiday flavors too, it wasn't that difficult for Krispy Kreme to capture the hearts of the Filipinos.☺
Krispy Kreme
Recently, Krispy Kreme introduced to new flavors, Salted Caramel and Kreme Brulee! My friend Mikez treated us some doughnuts and I finally have a reason to taste one of the newest flavors! And a good reason to... mmm... just eat sweets! I haven't been able to have Krispy Kreme in months mainly because J.Co opened a store closer to our office.☺And we had to try J.Co too.

Famous Belgian Waffles - Eastwood City

About a couple of months ago, my friends and I have been walking around Eastwood and we saw the food stall of the Famous Belgian Waffles in Citywalk 2 in Eastwood. Well, it was really that sweet and mouthwatering aroma that made us look for it. We didn't try it at first because we thought it was expensive. I have been seeing a lot of streamers and banners around Eastwood about the Famous Belgian Waffles and I think that made me want to give it a try.

The Reunion - Racks SM Southmall

Last June 1, Paul and his cousins had a reunion. Ate Lenie came back from New Jersey and she said she would like to spend time with them even for just a day. Most of them live in the south area (Alabang, Las Pinas and Paranaque) so they decided to meet in SM Southmall. We live in Rizal so we really traveled far but I think it was all worth it.

Ate Lenie wanted to have pictures taken in Great Image so we went there first. We were twenty five in total so it was a bit difficult for the photographer to organize everyone. The kids weren't so cooperative as well. Finally, after two hours, we're done!

Eat My GF - Garlic Fries in Levante Eastwood

Last Friday I saw a very intriguing stall in Levante Eastwood. I thought Eat My GF has a very interesting name. The name has a sexy appeal and I know most people will be thinking of something else too. If you know what I mean. OK. Enough of that! I did some research about Eat My GF and I found out that GF stands for Garlic Fries instead of Girl Friend. I immediately cleared my thoughts and just focused on how awesome their potato chips and fries are. A lot of people might be thinking, why didn't I thought about it first?

Eat My GF - Garlic Fries

I looked over their menu and I wanted to try them all. But since I have been planning on shedding some inches on my belly (which by the way, I constantly delay), trying all of them is something I must not do. So I picked what suits me the most! Virgin Chips! These are freshly sliced potatoes with fresh garlic, Parmesan cheese and parsley!

Twisted Desserts in Eastwood

Last Friday, my friends and I visited Levante in Eastwood. We checked out the different food vendors first and everything look yummy! We already had our dinner so I was just craving for something sweet. I have seen Cakes by K and Twisted Desserts. I checked out Twisted Desserts because I got curious. They have these nice little cups filled with... cake?? I thought it was very interesting!
Twisted Desserts

They're called Dig Deep Cups! There are four flavors: 3K Karrot, Oh-riffic, Mr. Grey and S'Monster! Each of these costs P90-120($2-3). I tried Twisted Desserts' Oh-riffic and oh-my! It was heaven! I really loved it! Paul also had

McDip Crispies McDo Desserts

I have recently seen a photo on the McDonald's Facebook page with the newest Sundae McDip variants. I immediately asked my friends to check the nearest Mcdonald's stores in Eastwood to try out these new desserts. Unfortunately, these are only available only in Dessert Centers. :(

Levante Eastwood

Last May 17, 2013, Levante Market was launched in Eastwood City. It was organized by the Mercato Centrale Group who has brought us a lot of food night markets around the Metro. A lot of aspiring entrepreneurs and regular Mercato food vendors come together to Levante Eastwood  to showcase their specialties and gain more exposure. Many businesses like Manang’s Chicken, Mochiko and Chuck’s Grubberie has started from food night markets.

Estrel's Caramel Cakes

The first time I ordered a cake from Estrel's Caramel Cakes was in April of 2012. I just wanted to give something to Paul at that time and I thought a cake from Estrel's would be perfect! I have visited their website and read it's history, checked the price list, menu and details on how I can order. ☺

Fried Rice Fiesta Recipe

I had been cooking this fried rice since 2007 and my friends and family loves this so much. I'm not sure if I'm the only person doing this, I just know that I didn't copy it from someone else.☺ I may have taken inspiration from rice in a box meals although they are using different sauces and flavors. I just thought that this recipe is worth sharing.

Kanto Freestyle Breakfast is not a place like IHOP or Slappy cakes. I think this place is more appealing to the Filipino taste with its carinderia style serving awesome breakfast food.

Tok-yu Sushi Bar & Restaurant

After we have casted our votes in Makati City last May 13, my family and I decided to have our lunch in Tok-yu. We also thought that this would also be our late mother's day celebration for my sister. ♥

My dad used to work in Mandaluyong City and their office is just near Pioneer Centre. He said he always visited Tok-yu and he loves eating there. The first time he took me and Paul there in December 2012, we waited for about 30 minutes before we were given a table. I think a lot of people really loves to go there. But since it was election day, Tok-yu in Pioneer Centre in Pasig City was almost empty. Yay!

The place just looks simple, nothing fancy but the food is great! The price for their meals ranges from P100 - P200 ($2.50-$5.00) which is very reasonable and serving size is something you wouldn't complain about.
